Skyler looysen:

Since I was young, music has always fascinated me. How in reading just a few lines of sheet music, you can learn a piece of music without ever hearing or knowing the song to begin with. I began my adventure into music when I was in 6th grade. My first instrument was piano. It was a slow beginning, but eventually the lessons paid off, and I really flourished. By the time I reached high school I was 100% immersed in music. I was in concert and symphonic band, as well as wind ensemble, marching and jazz band. I joined mens chorus, concert choir, and the Madrigal singers as well as honor choir (which is by audition only).

In summing it up; I would say that not only are ambition and determination essential in learning music for the students, but also in teaching for the instructors.

As an instructor, I am truly humbled by the achievements of my students. I find that any teacher worth their salt will realize the paradox of learning as they teach.

My students challenge me to be the best that I can be, in order to make them the best that they can be.
